Robert Cain > This is a 32 Mega Pixel image of the A train subway line @ 168th street. This is located in new york and opened on March 16, 1906.

There is a walkway bridge above the subway line allowing this photo. I recall getting away with using the rail for this photo.

This is actually two photos that were combined to give you the true view of the subway from that elevation. I may want to head back out to this station for another shot... Oddly there aren't many photos of 168th street on the web so... I posted to flickr also but this will catch Google too.
Robert Cain > Photo of the Week > Photo06_6A
Robert Cain > February 20th, 2010 - This is a photo of Inwood Hill park, in New York City. This is a part in the Northern part of the city and has a vast amount of nature hiking trails and outdoor scenes. Some leaves are still on the trees despite the cold. I used a tripod and shot 5 exposures and combined them afterwards. Enjoy!!!
Robert Cain > February 12th, 2010 - I'll be unable to post a photo this weekend because of other obligations. It has been pretty snowy lately and I wanted to post this reminder of old man winter.

I was in Manhattan walking to the bus and saw this photo of some people waiting in line. This is a simple photo with a sepia tone added. Have you been taking your camera with you lately? I always find interesting things, I may start bringing my pocket cam next in order to get some video when I am out.

Adding a sepia effect to photo is actually rather easy and free. There are many free tools that will let you do it. To name a few: Picasa, Photoshop express online, Picnik and fotoflexer. Picnik and FotoFlexer even imports your photos from facebook.... Give them a try.
Robert Cain > February 7th, 2010 - This is a photo to remind everyone that although we might be getting snowed on, there are tiny little flowers just waiting to pop and say hello. Take this and stick it on the refrigerator as a 5x7. Spring will be here in no time.
*Click on the photo then select "Save Photo" at the top of the screen. File size 8.6MB.
Robert Cain > February 6th, 2010 - This is the most voted photo in a recent contest held on my facebook fanpage.

*Click on the photo then select "Save Photo" at the top of the screen. File size 22MB.
Robert Cain > Today's Photos is called "vortex". This is a more subjective photo, and I don't think you'll be getting a tattoo of it, however, it does offer a nice background to your computer's wall paper. You should also align your icons to follow the focal point...

How did I shoot this. Although women are lying to you when they say size doesn't matter, but in this case you can actually do this with even a point and shoot camera. Here's how with both types:

Hefty DSLR:
Get your camera to have an exposure of 1 second. If its bright outside set your Aperture to F22 and ISO to 100. This will slow things down. Focus your shot to the most furthest point of view. Set your focus to manual. As you press the shutter to take the shot zoom in as the camera takes its shot. That will give you a blur coming towards you. Now for the circular effect, do the above and rotate the camera simultaneously.
Tiny Point and Shoot:
Go to manual mode[M].Go to exposure and select "+2".Turn off the flash(The A with Lightning Bolt)Figure out where you want your center point to be.Hold the camera to your face and DO NOT hold your arms out. Click the shutter and as it starts to take the shot extend out your arms moving your camera forward. This will blur your shot.

Be sure to practice....
Robert Cain > Today's photo offers a large 8033 x 5233 (42 MegaPixes) allowing you a splendid print of 30 X 40 or larger on canvas or a very nice desktop wall paper exceeding any HD displays capability.

This photo is in Durango county Colorado, USA. I was driving up interstate 550 when I stopped off the road to take this shot. I had to hike up a steep hill to get to this clearing. My thought was simply to find out if I could see this mountain better, I guess I lucked out. No bears either....

Click the photo then click Save photo above it.

More photos from Colorado will be posted here on Monday the 25th of January:

Robert Cain > 2010.01.17 - This photo was taken back in October of 2009. Click on the photo, although you cant see it, the original 191Megapixel photo (meaning it can be placed on a building) can allow you to see the individual cars in the town.

This is the city of Durango, Colorado, USA with a population of about 15,500 as of 2005.

The town was organized in September 1880 by the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad (D&RG) to serve the San Juan mining district. The D&RG chose a site south of Animas City for its depot after Animas City allegedly refused to pay a dowry to the D&RG. The city is named after Durango, Mexico, which was named after Durango, Spain. The word Durango originates from the Basque word "Urango" meaning "water town".

This vantage point was taken from the Fort Lewis College (Founded in 1911) which has an elevated view of the city.
Robert Cain > This is my photo of the week gallery, check it out. All the photos are free to download at full rez. So print them and share them....

2010.01.10 - I took a hike in Scottsdale, Arizona on a rainy Sunday back in December. Yes it rains in Arizona. The landscape was very red and dry outside of the rain.

Off in the distance is "Red Mountain", check it out here:

Arizona was the 48th and last of the contiguous states, admitted to the Union on February 14, 1912, the 50th anniversary of Arizona's recognition as a territory of the United States. Arizona is noted for its desert climate, exceptionally hot summers, and mild winters, but the high country in the north features pine forests and mountain ranges with cooler weather than the lower deserts.
